WWL Radio
Providing Radio Services to the Hospitals of the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust since 1973
We are a Registered Charity, number 1197778 staffed entirely by volunteers.
We serve the Hospitals in the Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, providing a radio service to the hospitals in the Trust, and to hospices, old persons’ homes and/or similar institutions and to staff, relatives and friends of patients and the wider community via the internet.
WWL Radio needs funds to continue its important work. These funds are used to pay Licences, Insurance, repairs, update etc. Since Covid some of our support through grants has dropped or gone altogether.
If you can help in anyway then contact us via our email address – wrightingtonhospitalradio@hotmail.com or use our new online donation form to help us continue our mission.
WWL Radio commemorated its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of dedicated service to the patients and hospitals within the region, in the year 2023.
WWL Radio (formerly known as Wrightington Hospital Radio) is looking for new volunteers to join a team of presenters and other volunteers. The radio station is based at Wrightington Hospital and broadcasts to the hospitals of the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and on the internet 24 hours a day.
No experience is necessary, just a desire to serve the community and an interest in music. All volunteers must be over 18 years of age.
Potential volunteers should contact the Secretary or Chairperson by email to wrightingtonhospitalradio@hotmail.com
We will meet up with you, show you the set-up and inform you how to apply to the Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust to join us.
