WWL RADIO was established in 1973 as Wrightington Hospital Radio and as a Registered Charity in the early 1990s.
In 2022 we registered as a new Charity under our new name WWL RADIO. The new name was designed to reflect the wider community that we serve across all the sites of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and to show we are part of the WWL family.
We are a Charity run by a team of around twenty dedicated volunteers. We broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a mixture of live, recorded and computer generated programmes. We also provide live coverage of all home from the DW Stadium for both Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic.
